Weird Psionce
Cross the Vulcans with Hannibal Lecter and you've got the Psions. For a race who claimed to be beyond petty emotions they had a distinct fondness for scientific research that caused slow, torturous death. They really believed in testing to destruction as both Koriand'r and Komand'r were about to discover.
Unfortunately for the course of Psion Biological Research the question of how much energy Tamarans could absorb would remain unanswered. A Citadel counterattack meant the Psions decided to leave before the experiment concluded. Naturally they didn't shut it down on their way out so Koriand'r and Komand'r were faced with either exploding from energy overload or perishing when the attack knocked out life support, exposed them to vaccuum or otherwise rendered the research station's environment lethal. However fate (or possibly Vegan's Goddess Xhal) intervened.
Which brings us ful circle back to the first issue of New Teen Titans and explains why Starfire arrived on Earth with a "take no prisoners" attitude. Her decision to continue wearing her Citadel slavegirl outfit for the next few years might seem puzzling to us but let's not forget she's an alien so her reasons might have made perfect sense to any other Tamaran she met. Besides George Perez insured she always looked great in it and that's a good enough reason for me. I was sorry to see the outfit eventually retired and replaced by a more conservative cut but times change and before the "Bad Girl" heroine explosion more modest costumes made a brief comeback. That concludes my look at my favourite Teen Titan. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I did.
